Cleaning Safety:  With any cleaning project, it is equally important to use the proper tools and safety procedures as well as a good cleaner — always wear protective safety glasses when spraying cleaners overhead or outdoors. Never spray cleaners around small children-no matter how safe they are.

Recommended Cleaning Tools

A: Clean, non-colored terry cloth towels.
B: Medium bristle brush for porous surfaces.
C: Nylon Dobie® or 3M Scotch Brite® pads for crusted stains on hard surfaces.
D: Clean pump type garden sprayer for large ceiling areas.

E:  Plastic drop cloth to cover furniture.

Spectrum Ceiling Cleaning Tips

Hard Ceiling Surfaces - apply Spectrum ceiling mixture - agitate tough stain areas with cloth, brush, or Dobie® pad. Remove with clean cloth, plus blot dry any heavy droplets from ceiling tracks.

Porous Ceiling Surfaces - spray on area to be cleaned, make sure area is uniformly covered.  Wait at least 30 minutes - ceiling should start turning white.  Re-treat any tough areas that still show dirt or stains.

Popcorn Type Ceilings - Mix Hydrogen Peroxide Formulation in Garden Type Sprayer - use fine mist setting, making sure not to saturate surface.  Keep mixture away from windows and eye glasses - bonding can occur.  Uniformly coat surface - wait 30 minutes to 1 hour - ceiling will become white as it dries.  Re-treat any tough areas.

Latex painted surfaces - Apply spray ceiling mixture, using a fine spray setting - blot dry any droplets that form.  Allow it to work 30 minute to 1 hour - check surface for any missed spots, then re-treat as necessary.

Water stains - pre-treat spot with Bleach Mixture.  Wait 1 hour, then use standard ceiling mixture.  Repeat process, until stain is removed.

Glass Surfaces - Due to ceiling mixture being an oxidizer, do not allow solution to dry on glass surface!  Wipe any over spray off immediately!

Repeat Applications - Allow surface to dry prior to re-treating, especially textured popcorn type material.

Surface Damage - Any cleaner left on non ceiling surfaces for long periods of time can cause damage - remove with cloth or rinse thoroughly.

Fabrics - Always test for color fastness

Safe On All Type Surfaces When Used Properly

Note:  Depending on the type of stain and the length of its existence, it may be necessary to reapply Spectrum  two or more times to remove it completely. Certain stains will require the use of heat described under Red Food Dye section in Cleaning Tips brochure. Spectrum, nor any other product, will remove all stains.
Sprayer Maintenance: Should sprayer leak — soak in warm water for 10 minutes - work trigger handle while holding sprayer under water to thoroughly clean and rinse.
